Understanding Islamic superannuation information
Separate the fund, trustee, investment option, promoter and adviser before interpreting a brand’s claims.
Moneysmart’s super guidance highlights fees, investment options, performance and insurance as matters to examine. A religious or ethical label does not replace those product details. Switching can affect insurance and other features, so information about one investment option should not be treated as an instruction to move your super.
Read the current PDS and notices, identify the trustee and check whether joining or transfers are currently available. A website can still advertise a service whose new membership is paused. Mizan shows such limits in the provider profile.
SMSF property finance is financing for a transaction involving an SMSF; it is not itself a retail super fund. Ask which legal entity and product each document refers to.
Questions to consider
- Which fund and option does this document cover?
- What fees, investment risks and insurance arrangements apply?
- What does the current product-specific Sharia review cover?
What this does not establish
Mizan does not determine whether your super is Sharia compliant or whether you should switch funds.
